Our services

The exact content, duration and format of a Teen Read Institute service will be explained when you book or enquire.

Services may include individual or group sessions, reading assessments or profiles, recommendations, workshops, talks and reading programmes.

We may occasionally make reasonable changes to the content or structure of a service where this helps us deliver it effectively.

Educational service

Teen Read Institute provides reading engagement and educational support.

Our services do not constitute medical, psychological or therapeutic assessment or treatment and should not be treated as a substitute for specialist professional advice where this is required.

Any observations made during a Teen Read Institute service relate to reading engagement and the educational service being provided.

Book recommendations

Where Teen Read Institute recommends books, recommendations are made using the information available to us about the reader's age, interests, reading preferences and needs.

Books written for children and young adults can contain challenging themes.

We make reasonable efforts to make appropriate recommendations, but parents and carers remain responsible for deciding whether an individual book is appropriate for their child.

We encourage parents and carers to raise any concerns about themes or content before purchasing or providing a recommended book.

Information provided to us

Parents, carers, schools and customers are responsible for providing information that is reasonably accurate and relevant to the service being requested.

Please tell us about information that may be important to the effective and safe delivery of a session.

Bookings and payment

Prices and payment arrangements will be explained before a booking is confirmed.

A booking is confirmed when Teen Read Institute has accepted the booking and any payment required to secure it has been received, unless we agree otherwise.

Prices are stated in pounds sterling (£).

Cancellations

We understand that plans sometimes change.

If you need to cancel or rearrange an individual appointment, please give as much notice as reasonably possible.

Cancellation and refund arrangements applicable to a particular programme, event, workshop or other service may be provided at the point of booking.

Where Teen Read Institute needs to cancel a session, we will normally offer an alternative date or an appropriate refund for the affected session.

Nothing in these terms affects any cancellation or refund rights you have under applicable consumer law.

Late arrival

If a participant arrives late, we will make reasonable efforts to provide the remaining session time, but it may not always be possible to extend the session beyond its scheduled finishing time.

Children and young people

For services involving children and young people, the person making the booking confirms that they are the child's parent or carer or otherwise have appropriate authority to arrange the child's participation.

Where a school or organisation commissions a service, that organisation is responsible for ensuring that it has any permissions or consents required for participation.

Teen Read Institute expects participants to behave appropriately and respectfully during sessions.

We reserve the right to end or pause a session where continuing would be unsafe or seriously disruptive.

Online services

Where a service is delivered online, customers are responsible for having a suitable device, internet connection and appropriate environment for participation.

We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of third-party technology or internet services outside our control.

Results

Teen Read Institute aims to improve reading engagement, confidence, habits and reading identity, but every young person is different.

We cannot guarantee a particular educational outcome, reading level, amount of reading or continued reading behaviour as a result of participating in our services.

Intellectual property

Teen Read Institute materials, including questionnaires, reader profiles, programme materials, worksheets, graphics, written resources and other original content, remain the intellectual property of Teen Read Institute unless stated otherwise.

Materials supplied to an individual participant may be used for that participant's personal or educational use.

They must not be reproduced, sold, published, distributed, adapted for commercial use or used to provide another service without permission from Teen Read Institute.

Website content

We make reasonable efforts to keep information on our website accurate and up to date.

However, website content is provided for general information and may change from time to time.

Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for the content, availability or practices of third-party websites.

Personal information

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Our website also uses cookies and similar technologies as explained in our Cookie Policy.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Subject to this, Teen Read Institute is not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control or for losses that could not reasonably have been anticipated when the service was booked.

These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Concerns or complaints

We want concerns to be resolved fairly and promptly.

If you are unhappy with any aspect of a Teen Read Institute service, please contact us in the first instance so that we have an opportunity to address the issue.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time.

The terms applicable to a booking will normally be those in effect when the booking is made, unless a change is required by law or agreed with you.

Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute will be subject to the courts with jurisdiction under applicable UK law.
